Course Description

Brazil's urban history from 1550 to the present, with Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Manaus, and Brasilia as cases. Topics will include urban theory, design, ecology, cultural spaces (beaches, festivals), slavery, housing, poverty, crime, and transit.
