Entry course for returned missionaries or others of equivalent language experience. Required course for obtaining language credit by examination. May fulfill the GE Languages of Learning requirement.

Acquire background knowledge of important achievements related to the target culture (historical figures and events, major literary and artistic movements, government and religious institutions, etc.). Discuss in the target language cultural practices related to major life events in the target culture (birth, marriage, death, etc.).
