Political Process, Theory, and Thought

Learning Outcome

Students should understand and appreciate: the origins of American political parties, the nature of the two party system, particularly in comparison with other party systems, the role of third and minor parties, the organization of political parties, the role of political parties in campaigns and elections, the importance of political parties to the electorate, the role of parties in American governance, and the ongoing reforms of political parties.
